Mary's Bar is the sister bar to the popular Park Slope lesbian bar Ginger's. The bar has a cozy and modern Irish pub vibe that's perfect for meeting new friends.

Good Location and Inspired Name

As a new inclusive queer space located on the border of Greenpoint and East Williamsburg, Mary's Bar has quickly become a beloved meeting place for the local LGBTQ+ community.

The name of the bar is inspired by owner Brendan's beloved mum, Mary, as well as by a common phrase used to describe a group of gay men, a 'bunch of Marys'. This fusion of personal homage and inclusivity defines the very essence of the establishment.

All About Mary's Bar

Step inside and you'll find a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with ample covered outdoor seating and indoor tables and bar seating. The menu is your standard pub beverage list, with Saison beer on tap, plus non-alcoholic options. But what really sets Mary's apart is its commitment to creating a safe space for all patrons.

Mary's Bar takes inclusivity to heart and enforces a code of conduct that ensures everyone's comfort. At its entryway, you'll find a clear stance against non-consensual photography, harassment, and discrimination. Moreover, the policy encourages patrons to use gender-neutral language and respects the individual pronouns of all visitors. Intrusive questions directed at trans or nonbinary individuals are off-limits, fostering an atmosphere of respect and acceptance.

In addition to its commitment to inclusivity, Mary's Bar also encourages conversation by not having TVs on the premises. The absence of screens allows patrons to engage with each other and enjoy the company of their fellow bar-goers.

But that's not all! Mary's Bar has a slate of regular entertainment, including trivia, bingo, biweekly karaoke, guest DJs, and the occasional evening of Irish trad music. It's the perfect spot for a casual date or to kick off a night out with friends.
