Brighton & Hove Pride is set to be the most fabulous, flamboyant, and downright fun-filled event of the year, bringing hundreds of thousands attendees to Brighton for a weekend of celebrations!
Brighton and Hove Pride began with a gay demonstration in Brighton in October 1972 by The Sussex Gay Liberation Front (SGLF) and a full pride march in July 1973, and has kept the community going strong. So, get ready to don your rainbow gear, raise your flags high, and join the LGBTQ+ community and allies who will descend upon this seaside city to celebrate love, equality, and diversity.
The Pride weekend Brighton and Hove festivities always take place over a weekend in early August, and will feature an array of exciting events, performances, and activities that are sure to keep you entertained from morning until night. The city will come alive with music, color, and dance as the parade makes its way through the streets, led by an army of drag performers, performers, and community groups.
The parade itself is a sight to behold - a dazzling display of costumes, choreography, and creative floats that celebrate every facet of the LGBTQ+ community. Expect to see everything from glittering unicorns to fabulous flamingos, as well as more traditional symbols of pride, such as rainbow flags and pink triangles.
After the parade, head to Preston Park, where the main pride festival will be taking place. This year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a huge line-up of live music acts, DJs, and performers taking to the stage throughout the day.
As well as the music, there will be a wide range of stalls and food vendors, selling everything from rainbow flags and t-shirts to delicious street food and cocktails. There will also be a funfair, art installations, and other attractions to keep you entertained between the acts.
If you're looking for something a little more low-key, there will be a number of other events taking place around the city during pride weekend. From film screenings to club nights, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Of course, Brighton is famous for its LGBTQ+ scene all year round, and Pride weekend is the perfect time to explore everything this vibrant city has to offer. From the bars and clubs of Kemptown to the independent shops and restaurants of the North Laine, there's always something new to discover in this diverse and welcoming community.
So if you're looking for a weekend of fun, friendship, and fabulousness, Brighton & Hove Pride is not to be missed. Whether you're a seasoned pride-goer or a first-time visitor, you're guaranteed to have a blast at this unforgettable event in the UK.
Whilst the festivities are great, there is a very important reason why we all come out as a show of unity. We use our voices to advocate for the rights of our fellow LGBTQ+ members; putting equality and inclusivity front and center. Champion your peers and have a great time doing it! Come and bring in another year of Brighton & Hove Pride.
The festivities begin Friday night with packed bars and clubs and the ensuing Pride Village Party continues Saturday and Sunday. The Pride Village Street Party is a celebration of Brighton & Hove Pride in the heart of the UK’s most vibrant city, bringing two days of fantastic entertainment. The party will be centered around Brighton’s well-known Kemptown area and downtown to not only celebrate pride but to also help raise funds for Brighton Rainbow Fund and Pride Social Impact Fund. So, come out, be proud and help raise funds for a great cause while in Brighton.
Brighton Pride Parade is one of the biggest events in Brighton & Hove’s events calendar, with hundreds of thousands of supporters pouring out onto the city’s streets to participate in the parade. The parade kicks off from Hove Lawns and along the seafront, the parade will turn on West Street, continuing on to Queens Road. The parade will continue down North Road and the parade will wind its way towards London Road before making its way and ending in Preston Park for the ensuing pride festivities.
