Event Details

With over 300,000 fabulous folks descending upon the city, it's practically a queer takeover! The LGBTQ+ community shines its brightest during Southern Decadence, with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender attendees all coming together for an unforgettable bash.

The epicenter of the action is the corner of Bourbon and St. Ann Streets – the heart of Gay New Orleans and the undeniable focal point of this glamorous affair. Let your freak flag fly, your colors shine bright, and your spirit soar high – Southern Decadence is waiting to welcome you with open arms and a whole lot of glitter!

But wait, there's more! Visitors start rolling in on the Wednesday before Labor Day and don't even consider returning to reality until the following Tuesday. This isn't just a weekend getaway – it's a full-blown, week-long celebration of love, identity, and everything that makes you, well, you.

The History Behind Southern Decadence

Southern Decadence is as rich as the chocolate in your pralines. Since the early 70s, this event has been blossoming into the most anticipated Labor Day Weekend bash in town. It all started as a small gathering of friends saying adieu to the summer – now, it's a citywide spectacle that would make even Marie Laveau proud. Robert Laurent, the mastermind behind it all, declared, "Cheers to Southern Decadence!" The spirit of celebration continues, and you better believe that laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll)!
