Visit EqualdexBoston Pride is an annual event set to take place in the heart of the city, and will feature a range of colorful and exciting activities and events. Pride weekend Boston began in June 1970, when a small group of about 50 gay and lesbian activists marched from Cambridge Common to Boston Common, where they held a rally commemorating the Stonewall riots.
If you are looking for spots to stay while visiting for pride, Boston has several neighborhoods that have LGBTQ+ communities, with the South End being one of the most popular. Jones Hill, the Savin Hill and Melville Park areas of Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain areas are also fairly popular.
The festivities will kick off on Friday night with events around the city and then Saturday begins with a rousing parade that will wind through the city streets, with participants decked out in rainbow-colored outfits, waving flags and banners, and cheering onlookers. Expect to see everything from drag performers to politicians, activists to performers, all united in their support of Boston's LGBTQ+ community.
After the parade, the party will move to Boston Common, where the Pride festival will be in full swing. The Common will be transformed into a vibrant, lively space, with multiple stages featuring live music, DJs, and performances by some of the biggest names in LGBTQ+ entertainment.
Food trucks and vendors will line the pathways, offering a variety of tasty treats and refreshing drinks. Whether you're in the mood for traditional carnival fare like hot dogs and cotton candy, or something a little more sophisticated like artisanal cheese and charcuterie, you'll find plenty of options to satisfy your cravings.
But the Boston Pride event is about much more than just partying and entertainment. It's also an opportunity to learn, connect, and engage with the LGBTQ+ community. Throughout the festival, there will be a range of informative and educational workshops, panels, and talks, covering topics such as LGBTQ+ health, advocacy, and social justice.
Boston Pride event promises to be a joyous and uplifting celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, its achievements, and its ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance. So grab your rainbow flag, put on your fabulous dancing shoes, and join the party!
