The annual Midsommarfest in Chicago celebrates LGBTQ+ heritage, along with the area’s Scandinavian roots. The fest features the Balmoral Pride Stage, which showcases local drag performers, cabaret performers, DJs, and lots of amazing vendors of food and arts. The festival takes place on Clark, from Foster to Gregory (just north of Catalpa).
Get ready to dance around the maypole and feast on traditional Scandinavian fare like smörgåsbord, gravlax, and meatballs, all while sipping on ice-cold aquavit or a refreshing pint of local craft beer. With dozens of food vendors and beer tents, there's something for every palate and thirst at Midsommarfest.
But the fun doesn't stop there! Wander through the bustling street fair, where over 50 vendors offer a wide array of handcrafted goods, clothing, jewelry, and art. From hand-knitted sweaters to Viking-inspired home decor, you'll find plenty of unique treasures to take home.
As you explore the festival, you'll be serenaded by an eclectic mix of music, ranging from traditional Nordic folk to modern pop and rock. With multiple stages featuring over 30 live performances, there's no shortage of entertainment to keep you dancing and singing all weekend long.
And don't forget about the kids! Midsommarfest offers plenty of family-friendly activities, including face painting, a petting zoo, and even a dedicated children's stage with performances and interactive storytelling.
Whether you're a Chicago local or visiting from out of town, Andersonville Midsommarfest is a can't-miss event for anyone looking to experience the best of Scandinavian culture in a fun and festive atmosphere. So grab your friends, don your flower crowns, and join us for a weekend of food, music, and community spirit!
