Location in Memphis
OUTMemphis has several locations, depending upon the service you are seeking. Their Community Center and Youth Emergency Center are both located between the Germantown area and West Memphis, with just a little over 1 mile between the locations. There are numerous services and resources provided by OUTMemphis to assist the community. Many health services are available, including HIV testing and education, support groups for LGBTQ+ individuals with mental health needs, and addiction and recovery groups. Some History
Previously known as the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center, the organization was created in 1989. While they started as a grassroots effort, they have expanded to a multiple-location institution. More than 5 years ago they changed their name to OUTMemphis, with an awareness that no combination of letters would fully encompass every identity or orientation. OUTMemphis stands for a world where everyone can be unapologetically themselves.
