Pride Amsterdam began in 1996, celebrating freedom and diversity in Amsterdam style, which has turned into the world-famous Amsterdam Pride bash, with the astonishing Canal Parade on Saturday, August 5th where festival goers take to the canals! Pride Amsterdam is a citywide gay-festival held annually at the center of Amsterdam during the first weekend of August, with over 500,00 participants.

Pride weekend Amsterdam 2024 is one of the largest annual public events in the Netherlands and will host over 300+ activities & events during the gay pride celebration. Little something for everyone! Check out their agenda for a complete overview of fabulous festivities.

Stichting (Foundation) Pride Amsterdam puts together this amazing event and is committed to the emancipation, social, legal and social equality and acceptance of gay men, bisexuals and lesbians, and also for those who do not want to socially dominant gender roles or to conform (as masculine women, feminine men and queers) or assume a different physical gender identity throughout their lives.

But gay pride in Amsterdam is more than just a parade. It's a festival of freedom, a celebration of diversity, and a chance for LGBTQ+ people from all over the world to come together and show the world that love knows no boundaries. From film screenings and art exhibitions to drag shows and dance parties, there's something for everyone at gay pride. Festival - July 27 - August 4

Enjoy over a week of festivities throughout the streets of Amsterdam. There will be parties and events all throughout the city, however most will be centered around the gay district in the center of Amsterdam and the gay area on Reguliersdwarsstraat, which is also where the after parade festivities will be held. No matter whether you're gay or lesbian, trans or bi, queer or questioning, friend or loved one or ally, you and yours should come as you are with to celebrate with fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Canal Parade - Saturday, August 3

The Canal Parade is one of a kind! Enjoy boats and fellow pride-goers floating down the beautiful canals of Amsterdam. The route goes from Oosterdok – Nieuwe Herengracht – Amstel – Prinsengracht – Westerdok. The festivities culminate in a spectacular parade that sees thousands of LGBTQ+ people and their allies take to the waterways in a flotilla of fabulously decorated boats, with dancing, singing, and spreading joy and pride for everyone.
