CSD Dresden 2025 (Dresden Pride)

CSD Dresden (Dresden Pride) promises to be a colorful and exciting celebration of diversity, equality, and love! This annual event, also known as Christopher Street Day (CSD), is a time for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to come together and celebrate their identity and visibility.

CSD Dresden Festival - May 29 - 31

Pride weekend Dresden takes over the Altmarkt, or Old Market Square, one of the main squares in Dresden and the other festivities will be centered around Neustadt (New Town), the hip gay district located in the northern part of the city. There will be excellent food, live music and entertainment, performances and pride events happening throughout these areas. Then at night, the local LGBTQ+ venues throw themed parties to celebrate pride throughout the wee hours of the night!

Pride Parade - May 31

The pride march will leave the Altmarkt around noon and continue through the streets of Altstadt to Neustadt and then back, returning to the Altmarkt, where a full stage program awaits you. The Dresden CSD pride march attracts visitors from all across the Saxony area and around Europe. The parade features a procession of marchers and activist groups following with rainbow floats, music, dancing, motorbikes, drag performers, straight allies and friends. More than 10,000 people attend the march. So get your favorite rainbow gear and celebrate in the streets of Dresden with fellow LGBTQ+ pride-goers.

History

The history of CSD dates back to the Stonewall riots in New York City in 1969, which were a series of demonstrations by members of the LGBTQ+ community in response to police raids at the Stonewall Inn. The riots sparked a movement for gay rights and led to the first pride parade in San Francisco during 1970. Since then, pride parades have been held around the world as a way to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and advocate for equal rights.

CSD Dresden began in 1995, and since then, it has grown into one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in Germany. The festival typically takes place in late June around the bustling streets of Dresden, and over 10,000 excited pride-goers attend the pride march.

Event Details

The festival will kick off Friday with various themed events, pool parties, late night dance parties and social gatherings around the city. Saturday is one of the highlights with the pride march and colorful parade through the heart of Dresden, featuring music, dancing, and eye-catching floats. After the parade, attendees can enjoy a range of events, including concerts, workshops, panel discussions, and fabulous parties. There will also be plenty of food and drink vendors, as well as a market selling LGBTQ+ merchandise.

Bottom Line

Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or are a supportive ally, CSD Dresden is a fantastic opportunity to come together with others who share your values and celebrate the diversity of humanity. So mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable experience at CSD Dresden!
