Welcome to Palm Springs. The most vibrant queer-centric and gay neighborhoods here are Warm Sands (home of gay-exclusive resorts, some of them clothing-optional), and Arenas, which is packed with Palm Springs gay bars, restaurants, and LGBTQ+ shops. In this city of mid-century modern celebrity hideaways and palm trees, though, you’ll feel welcome anywhere you go.

This sun-drenched city, known for its mid-century modern architecture, vibrant arts scene, and inclusive atmosphere, offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Palm Springs invites visitors to step into a world where the days are bathed in sunshine and the nights are cooled by gentle breezes (minus the summer months!). The city's streets are lined with palm trees that stand like sentinels, watching over the colorful boutiques and chic eateries that make up its bustling downtown. It's a place where the spirit of freedom and diversity is not just celebrated; it's a way of life.

For those with a penchant for history and architecture, a tour of the iconic mid-century modern homes is a must. These architectural gems, characterized by their clean lines and indoor-outdoor living spaces, encapsulate the essence of Palm Springs' design ethos. The city's dedication to preserving its architectural heritage is evident in every corner, from the Palm Springs Art Museum, a cultural beacon that houses a diverse collection of art, from contemporary works to Native American pieces. The museum's sculpture garden, a serene space dotted with towering sculptures and native plants, offers a moment of tranquility amidst the excitement of the city. Make sure to check out the Annenberg Theater while here, they feature a combination of the visual and performing arts!

No visit to Palm Springs is complete without experiencing its natural wonders. The Indian Canyons, just minutes from the city center, offer a dramatic landscape of rugged canyons and lush palm oases. Hiking trails wind through ancient palm groves and past streams that flow over boulders, inviting adventurers to discover the serene beauty of the desert. For those seeking a bird's-eye view of the valley, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway ascends to the cooler climbs of Mount San Jacinto State Park, offering breathtaking panoramas and hiking trails that meander through pine forests. This is a must-see if you come to Palm Springs!

Signature annual events are a massive draw, from The Dinah (formerly Dinah Shores Weekend) - and accompanying golf tournament for the ladies - to the White Party (featuring a sea of shirtless men), to the fantastic Palm Springs Pride Festival with everyone from the LGBTQ+ community, usually held in November. Plus, the International Bear Convergence (IBC) is the ultimate winter gathering for gay bears and their admirers if you are a fur lover!

You should know things seriously heat up here—like, literally—with 300 days of sun each year and scorching temps in the summer. We’d choose November-April for the best weather, although the high season prices are a drag. If you come during the summer, wear lots of sunscreen and hydrate with lots of electrolytes!

Whether you’re into desert hiking, poolside lounging, gay bars, event hopping, or drunk shopping (yes, please!) a break in the sun is never a bad thing—and here, that’s always in the cards. Palm Springs will welcome you with lots of love and sunshine.
