Center Details
IREOS is an association of volunteers of and for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersexual people, that was born in 1997 in Florence. Following the experience of both volunteers and professionals with the aim to continue though with the same purpose and the experience of health counseling service, which had been designated by the former Arcigay and Arcilesbica organization.
Services & Health
The center is offering a welcome service, counseling (psychological, medical and legal services), therapeutic and self-help groups, plus HIV testing (on site, by appointment). They also have resources for other STI testing services and help.
Mission
The focus of IREOS is on issues such as culture, health, wellness of LGBTQ+ population in Florence and Tuscany, focusing on the processes of self-help, self-management and empowerment of the LGBTQ+ community.
The main purpose of the association is to foster solidarity and the acceptance of diversity by getting in contact with other people and by boosting intercultural interaction between Florentine LGBTI community and the rest of citizenship.
The commitment of IREOS is to being a center of services implies the following principle: to provide individuals belonging to a sexual minority with any kind of activity designed to improve their quality of life and to promote social incorporation and to promote opportunity of interaction with the rest of the population.
