LesGaiCineMad in Madrid was created to help spread awareness about LGBTQ+ issues. LesGaiCineMad is the most important LGBTQ+-themed festival in Spanish-speaking countries, both in spectators and reach, as well as in the number of films. LesGaiCineMad was created with the aim of giving visibility to this collective.
Since 1996, with the support of Fundación Triangle, the festival has screened thousands of films. It is a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards in the sections of Short Film and Documentary Short Film. Check their website for a full listing of events during the festival.
With an estimated audience of more than 10,000 spectators, more than 100 films shown every year, press coverage, panels, Labs, Industry guests and filmmakers from all over the world attending, it is the most important festival in Madrid an a reference among LGBTQ+ Film Festivals in the Spanish Speaking Countries.
