Visit EqualdexCopenhagen Pride is the ultimate celebration of love, diversity, and acceptance that takes place in the heart of Denmark's capital city every year, drawing tens of thousands of people from around the world.
The history of Copenhagen Pride dates back to 1996 when a group of LGBTQ+ activists organized a small demonstration in the city center to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the community. Over the years, the event has grown into one of the most vibrant and inclusive pride celebrations in Europe, featuring a packed schedule of events that cater to all ages and interests.
The festivities are held over a week in August, featuring a colorful political festival with awards, parties, concerts, film screenings, street parties. Then the high point is the pride parade, which winds its way through the downtown streets of Copenhagen, showcasing a dazzling display of rainbow flags, costumes, and floats. The parade is a celebration of love, diversity, and equality, and is a chance for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies to come together and show their support for our community.
The rest of the week is filled with a range of events, including concerts, parties, talks, workshops, and more. Whether you're looking to dance the night away at one of the many pride parties or learn something new at a workshop or talk, there's something for everyone at Copenhagen Pride.
One of the highlights of the week is the Pride Square, a bustling hub of activity that features a range of stalls, exhibitions, and activities from LGBTQ+ organizations and businesses. It's a great place to meet new people, learn more about the community, and get involved in a range of causes and campaigns.
If you're looking for a more relaxed way to enjoy the festivities, you can head to one of the many parks and green spaces around the city, where you'll find picnics, performances, and other outdoor activities. It's a great way to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the warm summer weather.
Local hot spots are Centralhjørnet (which claims to be the oldest gay bar in Europe!), Vela, Oscar Bar & Café, SLM Copenhagen, Cosy Bar, Jailhouse CPH, Masken Bar, or Men's Bar (men only).

Copenhagen's main square City Hall Square is transformed into Pride Square (at Rådhuspladsen and Stroget), for the amazing celebrations during pride week. The city creates this special pride area for vendors and complete with a stage featuring live entertainment each night.
Copenhagen Pride square is also home to various venues, shops offering food and drink, plus near the old Latin Quarter, where most of the LGBTQ+ venues are located.
The main highlight of pride is the Copenhagen Pride Parade! It departs from Frederiksberg Rådhusplads consisting of over 150 groups marching along the route from the Frederiksberg City Hall to Copenhagen City Hall (website only in Danish). Afterwards the square is filled with festivities, booths, vendors and tens of thousands pride-goers.
