Birmingham Pride is the event that will be talked about for years to come! The gay areas of the city will be covered in rainbow colors, flags and banners to proudly display support for the LGBTQ+ community. It's a time when people of all backgrounds come together to celebrate diversity and equality, and have an absolute blast doing it.
Birmingham Pride and its events will center around the Gay Village, Victoria Square and Hurst Street. Enjoy the week of festivities throughout the streets of Birmingham no matter whether you're gay or lesbian, trans or bi, queer or questioning, friend or loved one or ally, you and yours should come as you are with to celebrate with fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community. The parade usually assembles in Victoria Square, from mid-morning if you want to watch the setup, then leaves around noon adventuring into the streets of Birmingham downtown and ending ton Hurst Street. And Hurst is right along Birmingham’s LGBTQ+ scene, just minutes away from the Hippodrome theater, and to Christmas Markets on the city’s south side. There will be events, socials and lots of parties to attend after, so get your water bottles to stay hydrated!
The Pride weekend Birmingham festivities start off with a bang as the annual pride parade snakes through the city streets of Birmingham. This parade is one of the most colorful and lively events of the year, with floats and marchers of every shape and size. From towering drag performers to leather-clad bikers, everyone comes out in full force to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. And the music! Oh, the music! Floats will be trumpeting all sorts of hits and with performers dancing the whole way through the parade. Don't forget to get your tickets!
After the parade, the party continues with live music and performances by some of the hottest artists in the industry located at Smithfield Live. From pop divas to local DJs and don't forget about the food! Vendors from all over the city come out to sell everything from street tacos to fried chicken sandwiches. You can find almost anything you crave while enjoying the event.
But the party doesn't stop there. Once the sun sets, the night comes alive with even more festivities. The dance party scene takes over and the nightclubs, bars, and streets come alive with the sound of music and people dancing. Plus, the Birmingham Pride Dance Arena is iconic, so get ready to kick up those heels on the dance floor!
There are also various pride activities and workshops happening around the city. This includes book clubs, art exhibitions, and even yoga classes. The aim is to create a safe space for people to come together and learn about LGBTQ+ culture and history.
But perhaps the most important part of Birmingham Pride is the sense of community and support that everyone feels. People from all over the country come to Birmingham to celebrate the event and show their love for the LGBTQ+ community.
