Stonewall Columbus Pride is a colorful, vibrant and all-inclusive celebration, celebrating over 40 years! As the second largest LGBTQ+ pride festival in the Midwest of the United States (Chicago Pride Fest is the largest), it brings together the Columbus community and beyond to celebrate diversity, promote acceptance, and support the ongoing fight for equality.
The festival is named after the iconic Stonewall Riots of 1969, which marked a turning point in the gay rights movement. Since then, it has become an annual celebration of love, equality, and acceptance.
The Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival is all month long, however, the main festivities kick off on the third weekend of pride, including the pride parade and festival in Short North and Goodale Park. There will be live music, dance performances, drag shows, and a plethora of vendors to check out.
From family-friendly activities to after-parties for adults, the festival caters to all ages and interests. There are countless opportunities to learn about LGBTQ+ history and culture, with educational booths and exhibits showcasing the rich and diverse community. Visitors can also explore the dozens of food and drink vendors, showcasing local cuisine and specialty cocktails.
And for the adventurous types, the gay sauna Club Columbus.
Stonewall Columbus Pride is more than just a festival; it's a powerful statement of support for the LGBTQ+ community. The event draws thousands of attendees each year, including allies, friends, and family members of LGBTQ+ individuals. The festival serves as a reminder that love knows no bounds and that everyone deserves to be celebrated and accepted for who they are.
The festival also serves as an opportunity for activism and advocacy. In addition to the lively celebration, Stonewall Columbus Pride hosts a political action fair, where attendees can connect with LGBTQ+ advocacy groups and learn about pressing issues affecting the community. There are also opportunities for attendees to register to vote, sign petitions, and get involved in the ongoing fight for equality.
Stonewall Columbus Pride is a joyous celebration of love, acceptance, and diversity. It's a time to come together and celebrate the progress we've made, while also recognizing the work that still needs to be done. So, whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or simply want to show your support, grab your rainbow gear and join the festivities!
The festivities are held over three weeks, centered around the three main LGBTQ+ areas of the city - German Village, Short North, and the Arena District. There are tons of activities to be had and the main highlight of the event will surround the pride parade and festival during the third week of June. A couple fun events to check out during the celebrations are Pride Brunch and Stonewall Columbus Pride 5k, and are always a hit in the community. Lastly, if you are coming in for the parade, stay near the Short North area, which is close to the parade and LGBTQ+ venues around Columbus.
The third weekend of June hosts the main festivities with the pride parade as the major highlight of the event that starts on Front Street and Broad Street. The parade then marches the streets through downtown, across the Short North (one of the LGBTQ+ areas of the city), continuing to Goodale Park. There will be multiple stages of entertainment and live music, past headliners include Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, so there will be some amazing performers! If you love being surrounded by love and community, come celebrate Stonewall Columbus Pride with fellow pride-goers.
