The event draws tens of thousands of visitors from across Germany and Europe, with its colorful parade, lively, fun-filled parties, and diverse programming.
The history of CSD Frankfurt dates back to the late 1970s, when the first gay rights demonstrations took place in Frankfurt. These early protests were led by a small but passionate group of activists who demanded greater visibility and recognition for the LGBTQ+ community. Over the years, the movement grew in strength and size, eventually leading to the establishment of the CSD Frankfurt in 1992.

The festival features a wide range of programming, including lectures, workshops, film screenings, and art exhibitions. These events provide opportunities for LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies to come together, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue about the challenges and opportunities facing the community.
One of the unique features of CSD Frankfurt is its strong emphasis on political activism. While the event is certainly a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and identity, it also serves as an important platform for advocacy and social change. Throughout the festival, participants are encouraged to engage with political issues, from advocating for greater legal protections for LGBTQ+ individuals to challenging discrimination in all its forms.
Other amazing parts of CSD Frankfurt include outdoor concerts and DJ sets to club nights and drag shows at the Community Festival, which takes place at Konstablerwache.
