Be a part of Pride weekend Auckland this year with other excited event celebrators to show off the LGBTQ+ community’s love, hope, and diversity, and of course, our commitment to having an amazing time!

Auckland Pride started in 2013, but Kiwis (nickname for New Zealanders) have been making pride happen to promote love, self-affirmation, equality in civil rights, and create visibility where and when it counts. This year's event promises to be the biggest and best yet, with a jam-packed lineup of activities and festivities that will leave you feeling proud, empowered, and thoroughly entertained.

Pride Details

The Pride weekend Auckland celebrations kick off with a colorful parade that winds its way through the heart of Auckland's bustling city center. The streets are awash with rainbow flags, glitter, and costumes as thousands of LGBTQ+ people and their allies come together to show their support and love for the community. Expect to see drag performers, marching bands, elaborate floats, and plenty of dancing as the parade makes its way along the route.

After the parade, the party continues with a range of events, both big and small, taking place throughout the city. Whether you're in the mood for a raucous nightclub party or a more laid-back gathering with friends, you'll find something to suit your tastes. From digital art exhibitions and festivals such as - Te Tīmatanga - and film screenings to dance parties and live performances, there's no shortage of ways to celebrate.

Highlight of Pride

One highlight of the event is Auckland Pride's festival, which takes place over several days and features an array of activities and entertainment. From carnival rides and games to food trucks and market stalls, the festival offers something for everyone. There are also workshops and talks on important topics like LGBTQ+ rights, mental health, and inclusivity, as well as live music, dance performances, and comedy shows. And don't forget to make it to the fun-filled parade event - Rainbow Pride Parade.

Other Popular Gay Events

Another famous event that you may want to pop into is the Big Gay Out. Known for it being the "gayest" festival in Aotearoa, Big Gay Out returns to Coyle Park. Join for a community day of queer music, markets, the gayest dance party ever and of course the fabulous Thirst Trap Vogue Ball by House of Aitu, (plus lots of other events) all of which is free.

Of course, no pride event would be complete without a massive closing party, and Auckland Pride delivers in spades. The closing party is a night to remember, with DJs and performers from around the world taking to the stage to keep the dance floor packed until the wee hours of the morning. Expect plenty of costumes, confetti, and good vibes as you dance the night away with your fellow revelers.

Throughout the event, there will also be opportunities to give back to the community and support important causes. Whether you're donating to a local LGBTQ+ charity, volunteering your time, or simply spreading kindness and acceptance wherever you go, your actions can make a real difference in the lives of others.

Auckland Pride is set to be an unforgettable celebration of love, diversity, and equality. Whether you're a member of the LGBTQ+ community or a proud ally, come along and join the festivities – we can't wait to see you there in the "City of Sails."
